Fixed Orthodontics
Fixed orthodontics is a common dental treatment used to correct misaligned teeth, improper bite, and other orthodontic problems. This treatment involves the use of braces that are permanently attached to the teeth for a specific period of time. Fixed braces help guide the teeth into their proper position by applying gentle and continuous pressure, resulting in improved dental alignment and a more balanced smile.
In fixed orthodontic treatment, small brackets are attached to the surface of the teeth and connected with a thin wire known as an archwire. The orthodontist periodically adjusts the wire to gradually move the teeth into the desired alignment. This process helps correct issues such as crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, overbite, underbite, and crossbite. Fixed braces can be made from different materials, including metal or ceramic, depending on the patientās preference and treatment requirements. Because the braces remain fixed to the teeth, they work continuously to guide the teeth into proper position, making them very effective for treating moderate to complex orthodontic cases. Regular dental visits are necessary during the treatment to monitor progress and make adjustments when needed. Maintaining good oral hygiene and following the orthodontistās instructions are important to ensure the success of the treatment. With proper care and consistent monitoring, fixed orthodontic treatment can significantly improve both dental function and the appearance of the smile.
